The Edmonton Mercurys represented Canada at the 1950 World Ice Hockey Championships, which they won.

They had won the 1948-49 Western Canada Intermediate Playoffs.

Their record on their overseas tour was 24 wins, 4 losses, and 5 ties.

Over 60,000 people greeted the Mercurys on their victory parade as they arrived home on April 6, 1950.
