History
The club was founded in 2006 and began playing in the Ukrainian Championship the same year. They did not participate in the league due to financial constraints during the 2009-10 season, but returned the following year when the Professional Hockey League was established.
Kompanion claimed the Ukrainian Championship in 2013-14, the first season since the demise of the PHL. They were inactive for the 2014-15 season.
The team was backed financially by Naftogaz and Yuriy Boyko from 2010-2015, during which time they were known as HC Kompanion-Naftogaz.[1]
