This was the 1981 NIHL season was the second and final season of the National Ice Hockey League, a competition played in Australia. Nine teams participated in the league, and the Warringah Bombers won the championship.

Warringah Bombers, Canterbury Eagles, Payneham Flyers, Dandenong Blackhawks, Footscray Pirates, Newcastle Northstars, Oakleigh Golds, Ringwood Rangers, and the Sydney All-Stars.
