The 1951-52 Northern Tournament was won by the Earls Court Marlboroughs, who claimed the playoff championship for the Northern Cup. The Durham Wasps won the regular season.

Each team traveled to Durham to play the hosts four times (except Dundee, who only played two fixtures), with the standings being decided on goal average.

Season Overview

Excerpt from the Ice Hockey World Annual 1952/53:

"Earl's Court Marloboro's, by defeating Durham Wasps 3-2 in the final game of the playoffs, won the Northern Cup for the first time. Durham led the league over the regular schedule.

Under the rules of the competition, Marlboro's were one of the teams allowed to bring in senior players in order that they might match strides on equal terms with the strong Durham combination. Wembley Terriers, who also made the three-team play-off series, and Falkirk Cubs, pushed out of the final by virtue of an 11-4 defeat, were the pick of the other teams."
