The Eddie Deery Cup was emblematic of the junior championship of Eastern Canada. It was contested between 1914 and 1920.

Results

1914

All-Montreal, Art Ross League champions, faced St. Michaels, Independent Junior League champions.

  • 3/16: All-Montreal - St. Michaels 6:1
1915

The Wanderers, champions of the Verdun Hockey League, had to defend the cup against All-Montreal, the Art Ross League champions.

  • 3/16: All-Montreal - Verdun Wanderers 3:1
1916
  • Loyola College - All-Montreal (Art Ross League champions)

All-Montreal refused to play Loyola, so the trophy was awarded to Loyola.

1917

This was a series between the JAHA winners and the champions of the Art Ross Intermediate League (Verdun Wanderers).

  • 3/8: Montreal Victorias - Verdun Wanderers 2:1
  • 3/12: Verdun Wanderers - Montreal Victorias 1:0

As the teams tied 2-2 on goals, Victorias retained the cup.

1918

Played between JAHA champions Melville and Sherbrooke St. Regis.

  • 3/20: Montreal Melville - Sherbrooke St. Regis 2:1

There was going to be another cup game between Melville and St. Francois Xavier, champions of the Bein-Etre League, on March 22, but it was cancelled due to poor ice.

1919

(challenge left over from previous season)

  • 1/15: St. Francois Xavier - Montreal Melville 4:1

All-Montreal of the Art Ross League challenged St. Francois Xavier.

  • 3/3: St. Francois Xavier - All-Montreal 5:2

Sherbrooke St. Regis then challenged for it.

  • 3/10: St. Francois Xavier - Sherbrooke St. Regis 4:1
1920

Sherbrooke Intermediate League

  1. St. Patricks 5-0
  2. Dollards 2-3
  3. St. Regis 2-3
  4. Bishop's College 1-4

Sherbrooke St. Patricks earned the right to challenge for the Deery Cup. They first met Sawyerville, champions of the St. Francis Valley League.

  • 3/9: Sherbrooke St. Patricks - Sawyerville 4:1

They then played Loyola, who won by default over Montreal St. Lambert, who refused to travel to face them on March 13.

  • 3/18: Sherbrooke St. Patricks - Loyola 3:2
  • 3/20: Sherbrooke St. Patricks - Loyola 4:2

However, the games were thrown out and Loyola retained the cup as the St. Patricks had played Baker, who was a senior player and a member of another club. It was planned to replay the contest the following year, but no results were reported, and it does not appear the Deery Cup was played for again.
