Saint John was New Brunswick junior champions (they beat St. Peter's 0:1 and 2:0 OT to capture the Saint John Junior title, and the Sunny Brae Rovers 1:1, 4:3 to win the New Brunswick championship), and thought Charlottetown was junior champions of PEI. It became an exhibition game due to the misunderstanding.
