The 13th annual Queen City Tournament was cancelled due to inclement weather and illness. It was noted that the tournament was still going in 1991. The Charlotte travel teams, formerly known as the Blades, became the Jr. Checkers in 1993-94 with the arrival of the ECHL franchise of the same name.
