The Hvidovre IK Fighters are an ice hockey team in Hvidovre, Denmark. The club plays in the top-level Metal Ligaen.

History

The hockey department of Hvidovre IK was founded in 1966 and first appeared in the top-level 1. division in 1970-71. The club then bounced back-and-forth between the top-level and second-level leagues for many years.

They were then re-named Totempo HvIK in 2007, after finding a new main sponsor, totempo.com. The club finished seventh in the AL-Bank Ligaen in 2007-08 and fell to the eventual league champions, the Herning Blue Fox, in the playoff quarterfinals. In 2008-09, they were forced to withdraw from the competition after the first round, due to their sponsor declaring bankruptcy and its resulting financial repercussions.

In the summer of 2009 a new professional club was established, named Hvidovre Ligahockey. The club played two seasons in the AL-Bank Ligaen under this name, reaching the playoff quarterfinals on two occasions.

The club was renamed Copenhagen Hockey for marketing purposes in the summer of 2011. Copenhagen Hockey went bankrupt and was dissolved after a disastrous 2012-13 season, in which they only one game and finished with a total of 10 points in 40 games played.

The amateur second team, known as the Hvidovre IK Fighters, remained in existence, and plays in the second-tier Danish Division 1. In 2017 the Fighters won the league and returned to the top-level league.
