This was the 1947-48 Scottish Junior season:

Overview

Excerpt from the Ice Hockey World Annual 1948/49:

TRIBUTE TO SCOTTISH AMATEURS

"A great compliment to Scottish amateur hockey was paid by Dr. McCabe, the president of the S.J.I.H.A., in a broadcast in "Sportsreel." Talking about the Glasgow Mohawks-Falkirk Cubs Mitchell Cup Final at Crossmyloof, Dr. McCabe said it was one of the most exciting games he had seen during the 1947-9 season, senior or junior, and the day of all-Scottish hockey had arrived.

It was a tale of penalties not paying, this final tie. Mohawks started with a 3-2 lead from the first leg at Falkirk and right away padded it to 4-2, only for Cubs to draw level at four and four. Then in the second period Cubs' captain, Bill Sneddon, took a minor for boarding, to be followed to the cooler almost immediately by team-mate Johnny Carlyle for tripping. Taking their chance with both hands, Mohawks rapped in three counters for what looked a winning lead.

Skating out for the final frame with a 7-4 lead, Mohawks played it tight and cosy [sic], kitty-bar-the-door stuff, content to play out time. Then their netman, Huddlestone, caught a long one that was off the net, and the puck stuck in the web of his glove and he couldn't shake it loose, and referee Andy Dick gave him two minutes for holding the puck. While Bill Crawford sat out his penalty, Cubs turned on the heat and in a goalmouth scramble Gerry Collins held the puck down on the ice and got two minutes for his trouble.

Now it was Cubs' turn, and sparked by Johnny Carlyle they ripped the home defence wide open, scored three goals, and the game was once more wide open at 7-7. The return of Crawford and Collins did little to stem the tide.

Over the two games, Cubs were the better team and fully deserved the trophy, if only for that magnificent last period never-say-die fight back against seemingly hopeless odds. It was a great triumph for Nels McCuaigs' kids, the youngest team in the loop, to take the Mitchell Cup out of Crossmyloof, only the second time this has been done since the inception of the trophy in 1929."
