The 1948-49 Oberliga season was the first season of the Oberliga, the top level of ice hockey in Germany. Six teams participated in the league, and EV Füssen won the championship. The league was organized by the Deutschen Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Eissport (DAGE).
The top six teams from the 1948 German Ice Hockey Championship qualified for the Oberliga, but Krefelder EV renounced their spot in the league, so a qualification round was staged to decide the sixth participant.
