The Chief Executive Councilor (CEC) Ice Hockey Championship has been held annually in India since 2008.
Overview
In 2009, the 2nd CEC Ice Hockey Championship was staged in Leh at the Karzu Ice Rink. On January 13, it was reported that Skara won the first match of the tournament 8-0. The second match between the Ladakh Scouts Blue and Lalok Sports Club ended as a 10-0 decision for the former club.[1]
"ITBP team lifted the third [2010] Chief Executive Councilor (CEC) Ice Hockey Championship trophy defeating Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre (LSRC) by two goals to one. Teams had to go for penalty shoots when they could score in three halves of the final match.
The championship has been started from January 15 and 11 teams including three women had been participated in the championship."[2]
On January 11, 2012, it was reported that the 5th CEC Ice Hockey Championship was set to begin in Leh, at the Karzu Ice Rink, hosted by the Ladakh Winter Sports Club in collaboration with the Youth Affairs and Sports Department. It was a seven day tournament and the first match was won by Skara Team and Ladakh Scouts Blue, with the former winning 4-3. The final was won by the Ladakh Scouts Red over the Indo-Tibetan Border Police 4-0.[3]
On January 31, 2013, the Ladakh Scouts Red won the 6th CEC Ice Hockey Championship by defeating the Ladakh Scouts Blue 4-0. In the girls' category, the Secmol team claimed the title with a one-goal win over Siachen Angel.[4]
"The Eighth CEC Ice Hockey Championship was played at Karzoo Ice Hockey rink on 23rd January. The match was played between Ladakh Scouts and ITBP team. The chief guest for the occasion was Rigzin Spalbar, CEC, LAHDC, Leh.
The match had three rounds in which both the teams scored one goal each, ending up in a tie. An extra time of 10 minutes was given where none of the team was able to score any goals. Later to break the tie a penalty shootout was decided where ITBP team made zero goal against Ladakh Scouts team that was successful in making two goals that won them the CEC Ice Hockey Championship 2015."[5]
"The 7th CEC Ice Hockey Cup [2014] was played between LSRC Red (Ladakh Scout Regimental Centre) and LSRC Blue, in which LSRC Blue defeated LSRC Red by 3-0 goals and in the women category, SECMOL defeated Tip Top by 3-0 and won the Cup at Ice Hockey Rink Karzoo on 3rd February."[6]
The 10th CEC Ice Hockey Championship was played at the Karzoo rink in Leh, starting on January 24, 2017. 12 teams from the Leh and Kargil districts participated in the competition. The Indo-Tibetan Border Police won the championship by defeating the Ladakh Scout Regiment Center (LSRC) Red. Neither team scored during the 60 minutes of regulation or in overtime, but the ITBP won the match by one goal in the sudden death chance.[7]
"LEH, Jan 19: The final match of the 12th CEC Ice Hockey Cup 2018-19 (Men) was played at Karzoo Ice Hockey Rink Leh between ITBP team and Skara team which was won by ITBP by six goals to five (6-5). Total nine men teams and seven women teams have participated in this tournament which was jointly organized by Department of Youth Services & Sports, LAHDC, Leh and Ladakh Winter Sports Club." [8]
"Leh : The 13th CEC Ice-Hockey Championship Cup 2020 concluded with the final match played between Ladakh Scouts Red and Skara team on January 31 at NDS Ice Hockey Rink. Ladakh Scouts Red team lifted the championship trophy by beating Skara team by 4-2 goals. Devils Hockey Club won the 3rd position in the tournament. The championship was organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports in collaboration with Ladakh Winter Sports Club (LWSC). A total of 12 men teams and 7 women team participated in the 13th CEC Ice-Hockey Championship Cup 2020."[9]
