The 1915 Gordon Cup was for the Northern Ontario Championship. Sudbury refused to face Cobalt Lake in a sudden-death game for the cup in protest of Frank McCarthy being on the Cobalt roster.[1] The match was eventually played, with Sudbury wresting the cup from Cobalt by a score of 1-0.
Other games
There was a two-game playoff series for another Northern Ontario championship between the Haileybury Rexalls and the Canadian Soo. The teams split the games, but Haileybury outscored the Soo 5-2 and thus won the total goals series.[2] Haileybury planned to challenge for the Allan Cup, but this did not materialize.
There was also a team in the region known as the Bruce Mines Stars. In seven games played for them, Frank Knight scored six goals.[3]
