The 1951 Metropolitan Championship was the second edition of the competition under this name. It was not completed.

The season opened on January 7, 1951 on the icy field of the Yunak Stadium in the presence of many skating enthusiasts with an exhibition match between two combination teams of the capital – "A" and "B". The B team won the game – 5:3 (0:3, 2:0, 3:0).[1]

On February 4, the skating season opened in Ruse, and there was a demonstration hockey game played by teams from Sofia.[2]

Metropolitan Championship

On Thursday, January 11, the capital championship started. Before the first match, Chairman of the republican ice hockey section, Asen Pavlov, made a welcoming speech, after which Stroitel beat the young Dynamo team by the huge score of 16:1. In the second game between the Spartak and Akademik youth teams, the former won with a score of 5:3.
