Owensboro Youth Hockey Association

The Owensboro Youth Hockey Association is responsible for governing youth ice hockey in Owensboro, Kentucky. While there are claims the organization and hockey in Owensboro date back to 1971, and talks of a hockey program being formed were held in December 1970, the first official accounts of the sport being played in the city are from 1974. The organization operates out of the Edge Ice Center, which opened in 2009. They formerly played at the Owensboro Ice Arena, which opened as an open air rink in 1964, and was enclosed in 1971.

1973-74

Hockey practices were staged in Owensboro for boys aged 8-12 starting on January 5. 15 youngsters turned out for the first session, with 18 being present for the third.
