The Azteca tournament takes over Mexico City and begins the battle for the 2009-2010 Junior/Senior Division 2 National Championship.
Mexico City, October 19, 2009.-  From October 14th thru the 18th, eleven teams from 4 different cities around the country (Monterrey, Leon, Tamaulipas, and Mexico City), met in the Ice rinks of San Jeronimo and Lomas Verdes to battle in the 1st Tournament of the 2009-2010 Division 2 National Championship: The Azteca Tournament.  The Championship is made up of 4 tournaments played throughout the 2009-2010 Season (Azteca, Olmeca, Tolteca and Maya).  At the end of each tournament the seven teams with the best outcome will be awarded certain amount of points; going from 9 points to 1st place to 1 point to 7th place. Teams will accumulate points all through the season and at the end of the Maya Tournament, the team with the most points added from all four tournaments will be crowned the Mexican Division 2 National Champion.
Eleven teams are divided into 2 groups: Group A made up of 5 teams, and Group B with 6 teams.  After a complete Robin round in each group, the two teams with the highest scores in the group play for the 1st and 2nd places of the tournament; the second highest scores play against each other for 3rd and 4th.
On this occasion, the teams met in Mexico City for the 1st Tournament of the season where 27 games were battled out back-to-back for 5 nights. In the end, Zorros of Leon (Senior team), after wining 2-1 against Pumas of Galerias-Reforma, gained 3rd place for the tournament and a total of 5 points on the Overall Scoreboard in the season.  Pumas of Galerias-Reforma gained 4th and a total of 4 points.  As for 1st an 2nd place, after an intense and exciting game, Jurasicos of San Jeronimo won 2-0 against their brothers, Osos 2 of San Jeronimo (Junior team); giving Osos 2 of San Jeronimo a total of 6 points and Jurasicos of San Jeronimo a total of 9 that put them in the lead in the Overall Scoreboard for now.

The Azteca tournament takes over Mexico City and begins the battle for the 2009-2010 Junior/Senior Division 2 National Championship.
