For the third year, the Portage Lakes Hockey Club, Calumet Wanderers, and Michigan Soo Indians competed in the International Professional Hockey League, along with the Canadian Soo and the Pittsburgh Pros. The league folded after the season, bringing an end to professional hockey in the Copper Country. It had been planned to continue the league for 1907-08, and teams from Columbus, Ohio (who had initially been expected to join for 1906-07, but did not due to the lack of a rink), and Toronto, Ontario, were said to be likely to join.[1]
In Detroit, the Athletic Club and Marlboroughs were the main teams in the city. A school hockey league with four teams was also organized. Portage Lake Hardware won a "commercial championship" this winter. The Puck Wedgers won the Copper Country Intermediate Championship.

Spokane did participate in the Open Challenge Series of the Rossland Winter Carnival.
After the season, the Spokane rink was taken over by an ice making company. Hockey was not played regularly again in Spokane until 1916.
