Grand Falls Senior Hockey League
The Grand Falls Senior Hockey League was a competition played in the town of Grand Falls, Newfoundland. The league existed from 1913 to 1960. The following appeared in the February 28, 1913, edition of the Harbor Grace Standard: "Grand Falls has a Hockey League with three teams, Newfoundlanders, Englishmen, and Canadians. The Canadian is reported to be a fine team, its 7 men equal to any in St. John's, says the News. The others will do better when they have had more practice."
It began the 1960-61 season with three teams (CLB, Guards, and St. Mike's), but folded on December 19, due to poor fan support. There was no league in the area until 1964-65, when the Grand Falls Central League debuted. Three teams competed in the inaugural season - Vocational School, Grand Falls, and Windsor - with the school team capturing the title.
