The '''Scottish League''' was a fully amateur league that was founded by eight teams for the 1962-63 season. 

==History==
This was the first ice hockey league to be formed in either [[England]] or [[Scotland]] since the demise of the [[British National League (1954–1960)|British National League]] in 1960. For the past two seasons, only [[British Home Tournaments|home tournaments]] had been played throughout [[Great Britain]].

The league's first season consisted of eight teams playing an inter-locking schedule, due to three of the sides not having a home rink. The [[Ayr Rangers]] won Group A while the [[Paisley Mohawks]] claimed Group B.

Only six teams took part in the 1963-64 season, which was divided into two groups of three teams apiece. The [[Fife Flyers]] won the championship after defeating the [[Paisley Mohawks]] in a playoff final consisting of the top team from each group.

The 1964-65 season also saw six teams participate. The Paisley Mohawks, avenging their previous season's loss, defeated Fife in the playoffs to claim the league this year.

For 1965-66, the [[1965-66 Coca-Cola Championship|Coca-Cola Championship]], consisting of separate leagues comprised of English and Scottish teams, was set up. The league lasted one partial season before succumbing. 

The [[Northern League (1966-1982)|Northern League]] (known also as the '''Scottish League''') for its inaugural 1966-67 season, was then set up. It is considered to be the successor of this Scottish League.
