SK Petrof Nový Hradec Králové
SK Petrof Nový Hradec Králové was an ice hockey team situated in Hradec Králové, Czechoslovakia. The club existed from 1931 to 1948.
History
On June 21, 1927, a sports club by the name of SK Nový Hradec Králové was formed. A year later, in 1928, the association merged with the football club of the world famous piano manufacturer, Petrof, creating SK Petrof Nový Hradec Králové.
Ice hockey in Hradec Králové was first played in the late 1920s, when informal matches took place on the Datlík pond. Petrof established a separate ice hockey section in 1931. Its first chairman became Václav Chudý, who submitted a membership application to the ČSLH in 1932.
In the 1932-33 season, the club began competing in the Eastern Bohemian Championship. They continued playing on the Datlík pond, later moving to the Cikán pond. Eventually, the club moved to the Petrof factory site, where there was a newly built ice rink on the football pitch. After the war, the club was renamed Novohradecký SK. In 1948, after the communist takeover, the club was forcibly incorporated into Sokol Nový Hradec Králové.
